Our radar evaluation systems guarantee that you will become familiar with modern radar technology in no time at all. We call these plug-and-play systems EvalKit SiRad Simple® and EvalKit SiRad Easy ®. They will accompany you from the first steps to the implementation of complex radar systems with components from Silicon Radar. Using this professional radar development tool you can significantly reduce the time-to-market for your products.

As a user in research and teaching, you will receive a practical radar evaluation systems that offers you a quick and clear way to vary all the essential parameters of a radar sensor using a graphical interface and to learn about its effects. Ask for special prices for universities!

The EvalKit SiRad Simple® focuses on our 120 GHz chip TRX_120_001, which is permanently installed in the kit. More flexibility is provided by the EvalKit SiRad Easy ®, for which various front ends are available.

EVALKIT SiRad Easy®

Exchangeable Radar Front Ends

Our Radar Evaluation Board SiRad Easy® offers you a complete system for the evaluation of our radar front ends. Its functionality goes well beyond a simple test board. After connecting to a PC, the SiRad Easy® immediately provides you with a functional radar system with a large range of functions (hardware, firmware and PC software).

Hardware
The hardware consists of a carrier board with microprocessor, as well as a baseband board for receiving radar front ends. The standard scope of delivery of the EvalKit SiRad Easy® includes a 120 GHz and a 24 GHz front end and a lens for focusing, which can optionally be plugged onto the baseband board when using the 120 GHz front end.

Additional radar front ends are available on request. The power is supplied via USB, as well as the connection to a PC. Alternatively, the integrated WIFI module can be used for data transmission.

Software
In addition to the hardware, you will receive our web-based user interface for parameterization under Microsoft Windows® . The effects of your modifications on the object recognition are displayed immediately graphically. So you can change settings on the running system and track changes in real time.

Use with your own or third-party software is also possible. The EvalKits firmware provides the following data output modes: radar front end digitized raw data (I and Q channels), FFT data, object recognition detector, and a list of possible detected objects.

EVALKIT SiRad Simple®

120 GHz Featuring Antennas in Package

The SiRad Simple® is a radar evaluation kit for our radar front end TRX_120_001. It offers you comprehensive possibilities to evaluate this front end. It is in its functionality a fully functional radar device in the 120 GHz band featuring an easy connection to the PC.

Advantages
With 40 x 40 mm², the SiRad Simple® is particularly small and can be used very well in conditions with lack of space. Despite these dimensions, it offers a complete development environment for radar devices and has the same functionality on the software side as our SiRad Easy® Kit. It provides an easy entry into the world of radar with which you can significantly accelerate your development projects and cost-effectively implement them.

Hardware
The hardware consists of a baseband board with microprocessor on which the 120 GHz radar front end is implemented permanently. The standard scope of delivery of the EvalKit SiRad Simple® includes a lens for focusing, which can be plugged on.

The USB port provides power and connection to the computer. The SiRad Simple® also has a WIFI module on board, which can be used as an alternative to the USB data connection.

Software
We supply a web-based software which enables the parameterization of the radar front end under Microsoft Windows® . The entries are made via a graphical interface. Settings can be varied during operation and the changes can be tracked in real time.

In various output modes of the firmware the EvalKit provides the following data outputs: digitized radar front end raw data (I and Q channels), FFT data, object recognition detector, and a list of possible detected objects. Alternatively, you can use the EvalKit with your own PC software or PC software from third parties.

EVALKIT SiRad MIMO 24 GHz – The Evaluation Board for our 24GHz MIMO Radar

EVALKIT SiRad MIMO 24 GHz

24 GHz Multi Input Multi Output Evaluation Board

Silicon Radars EvalKit for MIMO Radar will introduce you to 2D radar positioning, distance and speed measurement, as well as functions for real world testing. It features a complete design environment. Based on a fully embedded system you will get a plug and play MIMO radar after installing the included software package on your PC – an easy and cost-effective way to evaluate your ideas and reduce development time.

Hardware

The MIMO Radar Chip is placed on an interchangeable PCB, the front end board. Beyond the chip it includes the radar antennas. The front end board is controlled by the base band board which is also included. Here the data from the radar chip gets digitized. Underlying these two boards a processing board handles further DSP and the connection of the MIMO evaluation board to your PC. The power is supplied via USB, as well as the connection to a PC. Alternatively, the integrated WIFI module can be used for data transmission.
The current standard evaluation system contains a 24 GHz MIMO front end. Further frontends will be available in the future.

Software

The software provides the user with several ways to visualize and adjust the radar data using a standalone GUI. You can easily change system parameters and immediately see the results in the GUI. Another option is to make use of the comprehensive description of the communication protocol. This enables you to program your own DSP.

You may implement our free API used in the EvalKit in your products to output raw data using the same protocol as the EvalKit. For further Radar DSP in your product we provide open source libraries. For MIMO DSP software modules are available (please ask for terms of a license) or you can simply program your own DSP.
